Surpassed my expectations...!!!, May 28, 2011 This review is from: Kelty Trail Ridge 6 (Sports) When this package arrived I was a bit disappointed at the small size of the box the tent came in...I was wanting a commodious tent with a lot of space. However, when I set it up I was amazed at how roomy the tent actually is. I can stand straight up and walk from door to door without bending or stooping (it has two doors). I'm 74 years old, and that sure does relieve my old bones a bit.
The tent is touted for six persons. I think that may be a bit crowded, but four people can manage quite well. There are only two of us, so this tent seems almost like a hotel room. My wife loves the two-door concept, and I am taken by the airiness of the design. The tent itself is just about all mesh which lets in a nice cool breeze if it is pitched under a shade tree during the day...a little too warm out in the open sunlight. However, toward nightfall, or when rain threatens, just cover the tent with the accompanying fly. It becomes nice and cozy and the fly fits like a... Read more

Great tent!, May 18, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Kelty Trail Ridge 6 (Sports) A quality product. Well-engineered design. Appears to be completely waterproof. Lots of headroom inside without too much wasted space. Fits two full-sized air mattresses with plenty of room for gear. Great value for the price.
My only complaint is I wish it had the "tarp-like" floor in it. The floor is supposed to be waterproof, but I worry about rocks/sticks gouging holes in the floor. Definitely use a tarp or tent-saver under the tent when setting up. Other than that, to me it's the perfect tent for family camping.

I needed a tent big enough for two adults to do some car camping with lots of gear. I also wanted a tent that was big enough to walk around in but also be as water proof as possible, i.e. Full Fly! The TR 6 fit the bill AND it is very affordable for the quality that you get. I am a little concerned about the water proof ness of the floor as the seams are lifted up off the ground everywhere except the corners! I'm going to do some serious seam sealing there so I think it will be good to go. Going to give it the first test next weekend. I'll let you know!
Anyway, otherwise it looks like just what I wanted. Not huge, but plenty of space for our queen size air mattress and gear. With two doors, it should be an easy in and out situation. Lots of mesh for those hot summer nights. Just a little concerned about privacy with the fly open. Just have to exercise a little caution there I... Read more
